Quick Start
Thank you for trying: Bright Renamer!

This quick start guide will make sure you'll get your first files renaming tasks in no time.
​
Go ahead and launch: "Bright Renamer", if it is not already running.
​
​
User Interface
​
Bright Renamer's main window is splitted to 4 panes:
​
1. Renaming rules repository area: which contains the 12 different supported renaming rules. Each renaming rule has different parameters
that you change and manipulates the filename's text differently.
(For details on each rule, please visit: Renaming rules page).
Choose a rule according to the text manipulation you would like for your filenames, and drag it to the working area.

2.Working area: this is where you set the parameters that will affect how the renaming rule will behave.
For example: after adding a Convert Case rule, you can choose if you would like to change the letters of the filenames to: lowercase/uppercase/CamelCase/etc...

3. Files area / Preview area: drag files you would like to rename into the files/preview area (alternatively, you can use the Toolbar's add files and folders buttons).
The left column: "Current Name" shows the filenames as they are currently named on your disk.
The right column: "New Name" shows a preview of the filenames after processing of the renaming rules manipulation as they are defined in the working area.
The moment you will click the: "Rename" button, Bright Renamer will change the: current names in the left column to the new filenames as shown in the: "New Name" column.
Please note that the: "Rename" button will be disabled if they are no files to be renamed.

4. Meta data area: shows meta data tags taken from the file (different meta data tags will be available depending on the file type selected. for example: Composer for music files or Original date/time picture taken for photos).
Click a file in order to see the meta data which available for it - some of the renaming rules allow you to use these meta data tags as tokens in their configuration.
* Double clicking a meta data tag in the meta data table will automatically sort the current files in the files area by its' value.
Working area:
Choose the settings unique to each renaming rule in order
to set the behaviour of each renaming rule.

Files / Preview area:
Drag files or folders to the files area, and watch how they are renamed according to the defined renaming rules.
Renaming rules repository area:
Drag any of available renaming rules types from the repository to the working area.
Edit parameters in the working area and watch the preview area to see how your output filenames are affected immediately.
Meta data area:
Use meta data extracted from your files as a basis
for your new filename.

Music: Artist/album/track number, etc...
Image: Date picture taken/aperture/flash/resolution, etc...
Video: Runtime/resolution/codec, etc...
